WOODWORKING RESIDENCY / APPRENTICESHIP 2027
JOHN ERIC BYERS STUDIO www.johnericbyers.com, is offering a one-year residency for 2027.
The residency is an opportunity for a highly motivated and self-disciplined individual to develop their woodworking skills and explore their design vocabulary. The resident will receive free studio shop space in exchange for contributing 10–20 hours per week to the studio’s work. An apprenticeship hourly wage will be considered after six months. Temporary lodging may also be available.
You will work directly in the production of the studio’s individually handmade commissions and original design prototypes. We will educate you in all of our processes, including milling, laminating, shaping, carving, finishing, and machine maintenance, with an emphasis on safety and efficiency.
This is an opportunity to build your portfolio and master your hand skills while working with an established professional studio. For all questions, please reach out by email.
